God Honors a Holy Nation
Volume 63, Program 20

God blessed Americans with a country founded upon His moral principles, but today, we're in danger of losing that blessing as our nation strays further away from God's truth. Today, Mike Farris concludes this week's series on the importance of teaching our children the value of citizenship through God's requirements for a holy nation.

    Michael Farris:
We should teach our children to believe that God blesses a nation which honors Him, speaks the truth, and advances justice and mercy. I would suggest that every parent read the book The Light and the Glory, by Peter Marshall and David Manuel, to your children. It's a marvelous recitation of the many times God has blessed this nation.

Our continued national prosperity and freedom—which now appears to be threatened—can only be preserved if we teach the next generation to honor the same set of truths for which our forefathers shed their blood. A nation who forgets God will lose her freedom.

Schools and parents once shared this critical duty. In 1951, the National Education Association published an excellent citizenship handbook for the public schools which included Scriptures for students to memorize as part of their duties as citizens. Years later, the NEA hired a man to destroy the remaining 10,000 copies of this book.

Homeschooling parents can reinstate these truths into our curriculum. By so doing, we'll be raising a generation of voters and leaders who will be capable of guiding this nation in the next century on a course of freedom and blessing. I'm Michael Farris.
