Mike Smith:
Homeschooling opens many doors of opportunity. Students who have been homeschooled through high school find themselves equipped with the academic, emotional, and spiritual tools they need to succeed in college, the workforce, and society. As each generation of homeschoolers proves the effectiveness of this educational path, colleges and employers become ever more eager to provide opportunities for these extraordinary graduates.
But what happens when a homeschooled high schooler decides he or she wants to enter the military? Does the military treat homeschoolers on the same basis as traditionally schooled students? Does homeschooling prepare students for the military's rigorous, challenging setting? Are homeschoolers meeting with success in the armed services?
By choosing to homeschool your high schooler, you're not limiting your child's opportunities should he wish to attend a military academy or enlist. Rather, you're providing him with the qualities that will help him succeed in any of the military branches.
Success in the military is based on mental aptitude, self-discipline, physical training, and personal integrity. Does your high school program focus on character-building—if so, your student has what it takes to impress a recruiter.
And until next time, I'm Mike Smith.
