Is your homeschool graduate preparing to attend college? Today on Home School Heartbeat, Michael Farris warns parents of the radical left wing agenda touted by college history professors.

    Michael Farris:

Today's liberal history professors are street-savvy political activists who know how to use their position and scholarship to influence public debate. In recent years, they have been particularly active in the gay rights debate, making history a convenient tool for gaining the upper hand.

In 2002, Gay and Lesbian Advocates and Defenders, or GLAD, filed an amicus brief in the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court in the case of Goodridge v. Department of Public Health.

There is little doubt that the historian's brief must have had at least some influence on the decision. If nothing else, it gave credibility to the position that civil marriage is created exclusively by the government and can be redefined at will. The lie that these historians so skillfully propagated is that granting gays and lesbians the right to receive the benefits of marriage symbolizes "no radical change."

"Rather," they said, "it represents the logical next step in this Court's long tradition of reforming marriage to fit the evolving nature of committed intimate relationships and the rights of the individuals in those relationships."

This ability of liberal history professors to rewrite history to win their arguments in today's politics threatens the very foundations of our nation.

    I'm Mike Farris.
