Mother's Day is a time for families to really show their appreciation for who Mom is and everything that she does. This week on Home School Heartbeat, Mike Farris, President of Home School Legal Defense Association, gives children the chance to do just that.
Michael Farris:
Seth, how old are you right now?
Seth:
Five.
Mike:
Do you like when Mommy kisses you at bedtime?
Seth:
Well, yes.
Mike:
Well, yeah, okay. Do you kiss your mommy back?
Seth:
Well, not at nighttime.
Mike:
Not at nighttime.
Seth:
Because then she'd have to do it again, and we'd have to keep going back and forth all night long.
Mike:
Yeah, I suppose you would. What do you do on Mother's Day?
Emily:
We buy Mom presents, but usually me and Angie and Jessica make breakfast for her.
Mike:
What did you make for breakfast last year?
Emily:
I think we made her eggs, and we made her a special kind of juice.
Mike:
What do you think you're going to do for her this year?
Emily:
Buy her presents and make her a special breakfast again.
Mike:
You going to have a different thing? You think you're going to go with bagels this year? What do you think?
Emily:
Probably.
Mike:
Yeah, what kind of bagels do you think you'll do?
Emily:
Just plain bagels with butter.
Mike:
Now, every night when you're going to bed, I pray with you sometimes, Mom prays with you sometimes, sometimes Jayme prays with you. But who do you want to kiss you goodnight?
Joe:
Mom.
Mike:
Why?
Joe:
Because I love her.
