Mother's Day is even more special for homeschooling families. This week on Home School Heartbeat, Mike Farris, President of the Home School Legal Defense Association, interviews children to get their views on this important holiday.

    Michael Farris:
Katie, you're celebrating your first Mother's Day as a wife and soon to be a mother. In September you will have your first child. How has your perspective about mothers and Mother's Day changed as you are facing your first baby coming soon?

    Katie Dunn:
I guess I just realize how important it is to be a mother, and just thinking a lot more about how I need to change myself so that I can raise my child.

    Seth:
Well, sometimes I can read my Bible.

    Mike:
You can read your Bible? Who taught you to read your Bible?

    Seth:
Mommy taught me to read it.

    Mike:
And just tell us again how old you are, Seth.

    Seth:
    Five.

    Mike:
Five, and you can read your Bible?

    Seth:
    Yes.

    Mike:
How old are you right now, Joe?

    Joe:
    Five.

    Mike:
Now, every night when you're going to bed, I pray with you sometimes, Mom prays with you sometimes, sometimes Jayme prays with you. But who do you want to kiss you goodnight?

    Joe:
    Mom.

    Mike:
    Why?

    Joe:
    Because I love her.

    Mike:
Emily, we're going to play this tape for your mom on Mother's Day. Is there something you'd like to say to her?

    Emily:
    Mommy, I love you.
