Your child has probably wanted to be president at some point in his life. But does he understand what true leadership requires? Today on Home School Heartbeat , Michael Farris provides a biblical definition of leadership. Michael Farris: Specifically, the desire for knowledge cannot be the pinnacle of our educational desires. Rather, we should strive for wisdomnot humanly defined wisdom, but that form of wisdom that God encourages us to attain. In Psalm 2, God warns leaders to serve Him with fear and trembling. There is a tendency among rulers to think that they are above the fray, that they are so special that God's rules do not apply to them simply because they bear the extra burdens of leadership. God doesn't buy that kind of reasoning. In the book of James, we read, "Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly." Leaders need to be the first to serve the Lord with fear, not the last. Daniel is a premier example of a godly person who rose to a position of leadership through his wisdom and understanding. Daniel was faithful in little things and God blessed him abundantly. Christian leaders are needed. You can be smart. You can go to a great school and do very well. But if you fail to be faithful, you will be disqualified from Christian leadership. The Joshua Generation can turn America back to the spirit of the Founding Fathers and be remembered as a truly pivotal generation in our nation's history. If you want to be a part of it, you can. Work hard. Be excellent. Be faithful. Be humble. Pursue wisdom. I'm Mike Farris.
