Michael Farris:
Today our guest is Jeremy Sewall, who's a Patrick Henry College junior majoring in government. Jeremy, welcome to the program.
Jeremy Sewall:
Thanks, Dr. Farris, I'm glad to be here.
Mike:
Jeremy, a lot of homeschool moms have told me that they face particular challenges once their boys hit the teenage years. Sometimes their attitudes may spiral downwards as all those hormones kick in. I'd like you to think back and tell me, how did your mom encourage you toward excellence?
Jeremy:
My mom really encouraged me to pursue excellence by really disciplining me in my early childhood years. And she taught me what it meant to do well, what it meant to get things right. The thing that my mom encouraged me to pursue early on was piano, and as I started playing piano and getting good at that, it was something I knew I could do, and it's something that gave me motivation to do other things well. And in learning one skill, I was able to apply the things that I learned about self-discipline and practicing and performance and different things with piano that helped carry over to other areas of my life as well and teach me how to pursue excellence.
Mike:
Jeremy, thanks so much for being on our program. God bless you in your studies as well as in your future.
Jeremy:
Thanks!
Mike:
I'm Mike Farris.
