What's your vision for your homeschool graduate? Chairman Michael Farris talks about keeping your eyes on the goal through years of homeschooling, today on Home School Heartbeat.
Michael Farris:
One of the biggest advantages to homeschooling a large family is the adults you eventually raise. When you first start out on the experiment of homeschooling, you walk by faith and not by sight. It takes years to "train up a child," but now Vickie and I have the joy of seeing our children marry and start God-honoring families of their own. I know what John meant when he wrote in III John 4, "I have no greater joy than to hear that my children are walking in the truth" (NIV).
My wife Vickie and I continue in this homeschooling adventure because now the vision we had some 20 years ago has materialized. We can look at our older children and see how God used our efforts, no matter how imperfect, to draw them to himself and to teach them to walk with him. When we look at our younger children, we see the potential that time, patience, faithfulness, and prayer can unlock.
If you are struggling to persevere in your homeschooling, our hearts and our prayers go out to you. Perseverance is a virtue acquired over the long haul. Focus on the hope to which he has called your family, the riches of the glorious inheritance he gives his people, and his incomparably great power to accomplish his vision for your children. I'm Mike Farris.
Let's face it, the bulk of the everyday work of homeschooling falls on Mom's shouldersand it's no easy task. Vickie Farris is the mother of 10 homeschooled children and has written a helpful book, A Mom Just Like You. Ask for your copy with a gift of at least $12. Call us toll-free at 866-338-8614.
