How can you maintain the joy of homeschooling over a 30-year career? Chairman Michael Farris shares his insights today on Home School Heartbeat. Michael Farris: No matter what our calling in life, we are commanded by God to work heartily as if serving the Lord. If your zeal for homeschooling is waning as the years stretch on, talk to the Lord about it. Vickie has often said that God's clear calling to homeschool has helped her to persevere. When we willingly obey God's calling, joy follows. Ask the Lord to show you something to rejoice in each day. Simply having time with your children to build a lifelong relationship is a major perk. Each child is God's blessing to you, though now they appear as diamonds in the rough. Focusing on God's truth instead of our feelings brings encouragement. Galatians 6:9 says, "Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we shall reap if we do not grow weary." Count on God's promise to renew your strength and your joy as you wait on him. Make Philippians 4:13 your motto: "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength." He promises that your joy will be full. I'm Mike Farris. Let's face it, the bulk of the everyday work of homeschooling falls on Mom's shouldersand it's no easy task. Vickie Farris is the mother of 10 homeschooled children and has written a helpful book, A Mom Just Like You. Ask for your copy with a gift of at least $12. Call us toll-free at 866-338-8614. |
