Do you ever think about what the future will bring and what that means for your children? Join HSLDA President Michael Smith on today's Home School Heartbeat as he talks about recognizing the signs of the times.
Mike Smith:
Christian pollster and futurist George Barna says that America's motto should be, "No change, no chance." Christians are called by God to represent his principles to our culture that has largely rejected him. How can our children do this if we don't show them how?
Homeschoolers are often guilty of dwelling on the past more than preparing for the future. And in a sense this is understandable. We miss the way our nation used to bemore open to the values and principles that we know from Scripture to be true. Yet if we are to see a similar time in our culture, we must prepare our children to be mindful of the society around them. They must be mindful of things to come.
Many individuals and organizations have seen little success in their ministry because they fail to understand this simple truth about the world in which they live. Don't let your children make that mistake. Fully ground them in the Scriptures and be sure to study with them the writings of the Christian thinkers of the past and present, so that when they become adults they'll be prepared to influence their culture for Christ. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith.
