How will the homeschool community develop in the future? For an answer to that question, join Mike Smith on today's Home School Heartbeat. Mike Smith: The free-market economic model provides tremendous opportunities for material gain, but more families are deciding that building close family and community bonds are more important that gaining an extra paycheck. Time will tell if more women decide for the family over career, but the trends are encouraging. The importance of marriage and the nurture of children by both parents is becoming apparent. All the evidence shows that children benefit when they are part of a stable, two-parent household. But being part of a close-knit community also has tremendous benefits. Homeschool families who band together are able to help one another in times of need. It's also likely that as more people meet successful homeschool graduates, the number of homeschool families will grow. The homeschool community will therefore become larger and stronger. Homeschooling is forging the path for a whole new way of family living. It's one where children are close to their parents and are able to grow into mature adults before they venture into the wider world. The alternative provided by homeschooling helps counteract the direction and goals of the modern world. The future looks bright for the homeschool community as more people discover the blessings that come with this way of life. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith. |
