The homeschool curriculum boom

Vol. 54, Prg. 16–20
August 16–20, 2004

These days, there's a homeschool curriculum for just about everyone—but it wasn't always this way. Curriculum choices for homeschoolers used to be severely limited. Parents had to adapt curricula that had been designed for traditional classroom instruction or write their own.

With the explosion of homeschooling in the early 1990s, the demand for homeschool curricula also skyrocketed, and a new market was born. This week, host Mike Smith describes how the diversity and flexibility of the homeschooling community led to the development of high-quality curricula that meets a wide variety of needs, allowing parents to truly personalize their children's education.
