On today's Home School Heartbeat, Mike Smith explores the problems with a one-size-fits-all approach to education. Mike Smith: But does this method of education really work? Regrettably for many students, the drawbacks are obvious. A lesson taught to a group of students will inevitably be too difficult or too easy for some. For others, their interests may lie in other areas. For the remaining students, who we hope are deeply interested in the subject matter, the teacher will often find it difficult to fully engage those students because of demands from other students. It's an impossible situation for a public school teacher. We therefore shouldn't be surprised to discover that homeschoolers, who follow an individual plan of education and have attentive teachers, significantly outperform their public and private school counterparts. It is a natural result of this individualized form of education. Listeners, join us next time as we continue our discussion. And until then, I'm Mike Smith.
