Can homeschooling change our culture? Writer David Kupelian thinks so. Join Mike Smith on today's Home School Heartbeat as he talks with his guest about this issue.
Mike Smith:
David Kupelian is the vice president and managing editor of World Net Daily. David, you've identified homeschooling as a possible route to transform the culture. Why homeschooling?
David Kupelian:
Well, Mike, we've got to remember that today's culture, with its Sodom-and-Gomorrah-like body piercing and its overwhelming emphasis on sex and perversion (and let's not forget its incredibly abusive and vulgar rap music)—it's become so toxic that just about the only sensible way to raise your kids is literally to create or plug into another culture entirely—in other words, a subculture. Now the best solution I know of for accomplishing this is to homeschool your children and to network with other likeminded parents in your area. Trust me, it's already being done; we don't need to reinvent the wheel. I've homeschooled for seven years, and I know that sports, music, drama, martial arts like my kids take, Scouts, 4-H, whatever extracurricular activities you want, are all available to the homeschooler. You can literally pick up and choose the culture in which your children grow up, and you can actively participate in its creation.
Mike:
Thank you, David. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith.
