Where do missionaries go to get answers to educational questions? Michael Farris and SHARE Education Services Interim President Nancy Elwood talk about the options today on Home School Heartbeat.

Mike Farris:
Nancy, can you tell us what help SHARE Education Services offers to missionary families?


Nancy Elwood:
Sure. Thanks, Mike, for this opportunity. SHARE's goal is to help missionary families with the education of their children so that they don't have to leave their overseas ministries in order to get the counsel and resources they need. I would guess that most of the families who are listening right now have a number of things they can do to receive encouragement and resources in educating their kids, but on the mission field, those supports may not be available. SHARE comes alongside these families by offering achievement and diagnostic testing for kids as well as conferences and seminars throughout our target region, which is Europe, Russia, and Central Asia.


We spend a lot of time consulting with parents by phone, by email, or in person about issues like, "Why is my child struggling to learn to read?" Or, "What curriculum is best for my very wiggly little boy?" Or, "How do I integrate the local language into my child's schooling?" One of our strengths as an organization is that we've been able to network with home and school educators in North America, who help us find resources, sometimes come over and help us with projects, and also support our ministry financially.
