My guest today is Nancy Elwood, who's the interim president for SHARE Education Services, which is an organization based in Budapest, Hungary. Nancy, welcome to the program.


Nancy Elwood:
Thanks, Mike, it's my pleasure.


Mike:
Nancy, please describe SHARE Education Services for our listeners.


Nancy:
Sure, Mike, thanks for the opportunity. SHARE Education Services was born after the fall of communism in Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union. As missionary families moved into these regions, they started to wrestle with the issues of educating their children in an uncertain setting. So in 1993, educators from a number of mission agencies decided to try and help these families, and SHARE Education Services was established in Budapest in 1994, and then in 2000 we opened an additional resource center in Prague.


Our goal, Mike, is to provide whatever information a family needs to make wise choices about educating their children overseas. So there are 10 of us educational consultants in full-time service with SHARE, and many others who help us with projects and conferences. We provide conferences and seminars for parents and kids, and we offer achievement and diagnostic testing. We do a lot of one-on-one consulting with parents to help them iron out issues.
