Too much to do and too few hours in the day to get everything done? Scheduling is a constant challenge for homeschool moms. Join Mike Smith on today's Home School Heartbeat as he offers some tips on juggling the schedule. Mike Smith: Finding the time to complete all the necessary tasks is a constant problem for many people in our fast-paced world. But homeschool moms face particular challenges when trying to schedule their days. Typically a homeschool mom will be responsible for keeping a household together as well as teaching the children. It can seem like an overwhelming task. Trying to do too much is an easy trap to fall into. Many homeschool families internalized criticisms that homeschool children lacked socialization and tried to compensate by signing their children up for numerous activities. Though it's good to have your children involved in activities outside the home, there's no need to overdo it. There's also no evidence that links the number of activities to the social development of children. Children learn much of their socialization skills from their parents and other adults. For the harried homeschool mom who feels overburdened, cutting down on outside activities has proven to be good advice for many homeschool families. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith. Vickie Farris' book, A Mom Just Like You, addresses the big issues that homeschool moms face. For ordering information, visit us online at homeschoolheartbeat.com. Or call 866-338-8614.
