Sandra Lovelace, founder of Project Prisca, talks about homeschooling around the globe on today's Home School Heartbeat.

    Mike Smith:
My guest this week is Sandra Lovelace, founder of Project Prisca, the international outreach for Lifework Forum that reaches homeschoolers around the globe. Sandra, what are some of the needs you've seen as you've visited homeschoolers in your travels?

    Sandra Lovelace:
Well, Mike, I'm really glad you asked me that question. The needs I've seen fall into two categories. There are tangible needs, such as homeschool materials—curriculum, books, games, things like that. Especially for nationals, materials in their own language are hard to come by. There are also intangible needs, such as legal assistance, prayer, and person-to-person encouragement while they're developing their new mindset and lifestyle.

In many ways it reminds me of the pioneer days of homeschooling in this country in the 1970s and '80s. We've come a long way in 25 years with God's help. And I believe that part of our responsibility at this point is to reach out and share from that bounty. Actually, I have kind of a vision. I picture bridges of support spanning from continent to continent around the globe carrying support from homeschoolers to homeschoolers.

And if other homeschoolers would like to know about it they could contact me at our website, www.lifeworkforum.org.

    Mike:
Thank you, Sandra. Listeners, join us next time as we continue our discussion of the international world of homeschooling. I'm Mike Smith.
