Homeschooling is thriving in the United States. But other countries are not as free as America. On today's Home School Heartbeat, Mike Smith talks with Sandra Lovelace, who is dedicated to promoting homeschooling throughout the rest of the world.

    Mike Smith:
With us this week is Sandra Lovelace, a veteran homeschooling mother of many years who, now that her children are grown, has founded Project Prisca to support homeschoolers around the globe. Thanks, Sandra, for joining us.

    Sandra Lovelace:
I'm really glad to be here this morning, Mike.

    Mike:
Sandra, what does Project Prisca stand for, and what led you to start it?

    Sandra:
Well, the name Project Prisca comes out of Acts chapter 18 where Aquila and Priscilla (or Prisca) are introduced as coworkers of the apostle Paul. They traveled overseas to bring the love of God to others by caring for their needs and explaining the details of putting biblical principles into practice in everyday life. So with Aquila as a biblical head, Prisca had a meaningful international ministry. It just seemed to fit.

Once our girls were grown and my homeschool responsibilities wound down, I began to seek the Lord for the next assignment. And after a lot of prayer and a series of odd circumstances, he opened the door for us to serve missionary families in Poland and the Czech Republic. I quickly saw that the needs that we discovered, and the way that God had prepared me, fit together exactly, and Project Prisca was born.

    Mike:
Thank you, Sandra. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith.
