What would you do if you had 30 minutes with the president? Join Michael Farris as he talks about his time with President Bush before the signing of the partial birth abortion ban on today's Home School Heartbeat.

Mike Farris:
I was just getting ready to speak to a homeschool group in California when I got a call on my cell phone from aides at the White House, who wanted to know if I'd be willing to come the following day to an Oval Office meeting with the president of the United States and just a small group of people.


I looked at my calendar and found I'm not planning on being dead, so of course I'm going to come! And it was a thing I got very excited about and was planning on it, calling my mom; I called my wife; I told people, "I'm going to get to be with the president of the United States in a small group for 30 minutes." I was really excited.


My chance to be with the president for 30 minutes is something I'm going to treasure for a long time in my life. But I reflected on the fact that I know that the president himself spends time with somebody far more important every day, and that is the God of the universe and his Son Jesus Christ. And I asked myself, did I relish my time with the president more than I enjoy and celebrate my time with the God of the universe every day?


The holy God that we serve is far more important than even a wonderful man like George W. Bush. Time with him is the most important thing that we can do each day of our lives. We've got access-instant access-to the ultimate power of the universe, God Almighty. Use it every day. I'm Mike Farris.
