President George Bush understands the role of government in life issues. Join Michael Farris as he talks about the recent ban on partial birth abortion today on Home School Heartbeat.

After our 30-minute meeting with the president, Jim Dobson, Chuck Colson, Tony Perkins, Don Hodel, and I were allowed to ride in the presidential motorcade from the White House over to the Ronald Reagan Building where the signing ceremony for the partial birth abortion bill was held. In the atmosphere in that room with about 400 supporters, it was just electric. The people were grateful, very grateful, for what this president was willing to do, and to sign this bill into law that had been vetoed on two occasions by President Clinton.


Now, I thought it was very significant for the president to say in the course of his remarks that it's really not up to the government to create the right to life-that that right is given by God. It's up to government, he said, to protect the right to life.


I ask you all to pray that more people who share these kinds of views would come to Washington as senators and congressmen. Stopping partial birth abortion was a wonderful first step, but we need to be able to go further and stop all abortion. And it's going to take more people in Washington who are willing to do that.
