If you've ever wondered whether your prayers make a difference, tune in today as Michael Farris shares his experience of praying with President Bush before the signing of the partial birth abortion ban on this edition of Home School Heartbeat.

As we talked with the president about his duties, one of the things that he said that was very remarkable, is that the most humbling part of being president of the United States is "to know that people regularly pray for me and that it matters."


It is unbelievably significant that the president of the United States understands that there is power in the prayers of the American people.


I had an occasion to be with him one other time right after September 11th, where there was an event at the Red Cross that was encouraging children to be a part of the healing process from the September 11th incident. And as I saw him that day I shook his hand briefly and said, "Mr. President, we're praying for you." And he said to me, "Mike, I know it; I can feel it."


You know, as we met again on November 5th, the five of us joined hands with the president and prayed for him. Dr. Dobson led us in prayer, and it was a very encouraging moment for me to be able to pray with the president for the president.


But my prayers count just as much whether I'm with the president physically or not. And I would encourage all of us to understand that this president yearns for and appreciates the prayers that the American people offer up for him because he knows it matters with God Almighty. I'm Mike Farris.
