As a homeschooling mom, do you feel like you have more jobs than you can handle? Author and homeschooling mom, Christine Field, talks with Mike Smith about the roles homeschooling moms struggle to play on today's Home School Heartbeat.

    Mike:

Christine, how do Moms fulfill their roles of wife, mother, teacher, home-keeper, chauffer, and mediator, just to name a few, without incurring too much stress? And what do you mean when you say "just being there" is so important to your kids?

    Christine:

I think it's so important as moms that we remember why we're doing what we're doing. You know, homeschooling is a process that has tremendous impact on our kids, but it's a commitment far beyond any other commitment that we may have had. Because it really calls us to be present in our children's lives. And speaking of being there daily, life can get to feel like drudgery, and you ask yourself where is the joy in this. Well, I want to encourage moms to take a look at those everyday tasks as a way of doing service not only to your children but also as a way of prayer. If we can view the dailyness of life as a blessing then we can get for ourselves the gift of motherhood and schooling and the gift of being there to share it with our family.

    Mike:

Well, thank you, Christine. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith.
