Sometimes all a homeschooling mom needs is a more experienced, listening ear. Chairman Michael Farris asks his wife, Vickie, to answer your questions on this edition of Home School Heartbeat. Mike Farris: Vickie, one of the questions that I have been asked a number of times, and I know I have heard moms ask you the same question: They're so concerned that they're not covering all that they should be covering. They think that they've got to do more and more and more. Can you give moms some reassurance that they're doing enough? How do they know? Vickie: I don't think I've ever talked to any homeschool mom, no matter how long they've been homeschooling, who felt that they were truly doing enough. I usually don't feel like I'm doing enough. I really believe that homeschooling is an impossible task in and of ourselves. And we just constantly need to go to the Lord, we need to ask Him for wisdom, we need to get His help and strength. We really need to commit our homeschooling and our children to Him and ask Him what's enough, and ask Him to show us the way. I know that God knows what He wants our children to do when they grow up. And so, I have just prayed that He would see to it that they would learn the things that they need to learn, that they would have the skills they need, all they need in order to serve Him in the capacity that He has for them. Mike Farris: And the results speak for themselves. Moms, your kids are turning out in a fantastic way overall. There are bumps and bruises along the way, but, indeed, you are doing enough. Be encouraged! I'm Mike Farris. If you'd like to hear more from Vickie Farris, then we'd encourage you to get a copy of her book, A Mom Just Like You.
