Are homeschooling moms empowered women? Chairman Michael Farris says a definite YES on today's Home School Heartbeat. Mike: The feminist movement in our nation has encouraged women to promote their own self-interest by seeking positions of power. But history shows that those in power are called great leaders when they act sacrificially, out of love, to further the welfare of those under their care. In my 20 years of working with the homeschool community, I've been struck with one overarching truth: mothers wield an enormous amount of power. I meet young people across the country, and here at Patrick Henry College, who are dynamic, engaged, and focused on fulfilling God's purpose for their lives. Moms, your kids are giving you the credit for their success. In the daily grind of homeschooling and child training, moms can easily get discouraged. This week I want to bolster your courage and faith. You have the ability to make a powerful contribution to your own children and this nation as well. For a few minutes this week I want to help you focus on the long-term positive impact you will have on your child by your daily faithfulness in four areas: prayer, protection, instruction, and vision. We'll look at four women from the Bible who model these skills, and the results of their faithfulness. Let their example give you the courage you need to persevere in your homeschooling. I'm Mike Farris. A mother is one of the most powerful influences in the life of a child. Especially when it comes to spiritual development. Mike Farris has written a dynamic book called The Spiritual Power of a Mother to encourage and help you as you teach your child.
