How will your children apply their Christian worldview to their vocation or calling? Mike Smith talks about why this is so important on today's Home School Heartbeat. Mike: A Christian and a non-Christian may labor side-by-side in the same job, doing exactly the same thing, says Gene Edward Veith, but work done in faith has a different significance than work done in unbelief. The Christian doctrine of vocation helps Christians see that the ordinary jobs in life are charged with meaning. God uses our most mundane work to further his kingdom and serve others. Christ sends his followers into the world even though they are not to belong to it. Christians engage in the world by carrying out their vocations in it. This is how they can be a positive influences in our culture. Christian actors, musicians, and artists can be salt and light in a realm that is often dark and tasteless. Christians in law, politics, science, journalism, education, and other culture-making professions can be an extremely effective force for spreading the Gospel of Christ. It is my prayer that we see more and more homeschoolers choosing vocations that allow them to apply a Christian worldview in a fallen culture. As homeschooling parents, training your children to understand the Christian doctrine of vocation, will help them become a greater influence for Christ in the world. And until next time, I'm Mike Smith. Do you want to begin homechooling your children this year? Get your free copy of Home Schooling: Start Herea great resource that will answer your questions.
