If I homeschool, will my children automatically love to learn? President Mike Smith gets a veteran homeschooling mom to share her struggles today on Home School Heartbeat. Mike: Zan, I know from our family's experience that on some days, homeschooling is a tough assignment. What did you find most challenging about homeschooling? Zan: I think the most challenging thing for me, Mike, has been that factor, that overwhelming realization that my future, that my children's future rests on my shoulders. And deep down I know its all the Lord. But I feel that everyday if they don't get a good education or they don't have the right experiences I can't blame it on anyone else but myself. Mike: Well, Zan because of your struggles do you have any words of encouragement for a homeschooling mom who is listening today? Zan: It's been an amazing story for me to watch what happened with my boys as they were denied access to play ball. God opened up other opportunities in the political arena for them that were so fulfilling. And on top of that, both boys went to college on athletic scholarships. So God has a way of giving back the years that the locust has eaten so to speak. And He always turns our greatest trials into our most wonderful cherished memories and victories. Mike: Well, thanks Zan. Tomorrow we'll talk about your homeschooling successes. And until next time I'm Mike Smith. Can you homeschool your children? That and other questions are answered in a great resource called Home Schooling: Start Here. It's available to you absolutely free when you contact us here at the Home School Legal Defense Association. Check us out online at homeschoolheartbeat.com. That's homeschoolheartbeat.com. |
