This week on Home School Heartbeat, I'll be speaking with Zan Tyler, homeschooling mother of three. Zan, I think we've been friends for almost 20 years. It's great to have you on the program.


Zan:


Thanks, Mike. It's a pleasure to be here.


Mike:


Zan, you have two grown sons and a daughter in the 9th grade, and you've homeschooled all three of them. How did you come to the decision to tackle their education?


Zan:


Well, I am one of those people who got into homeschooling through the back door. My oldest son was not ready for 1st grade when he started school. And I wanted to make sure he was at his prime. So we were homeschooling experimentally for 1 year to get Tye ready to go to school. And during that 1st year of homeschooling we witnessed such an amazing transformation both in our children's lives and our family's lives that we continued to homeschool for these 19 years.


Mike:


Well, Zan do you have any regrets?


Zan:


Oh, Mike not a one. Homeschooling has been the best experience we could of ever had with our children. It's developed a richness in our home life that is beyond belief. It's developed a deep spiritual commitment in the lives of each of my children. And it has also been a perfect springboard for developing their individual talents and interests. No regrets!
