Most families face financial difficulties from time to time and home schoolers are no different. Today on Home School Heartbeat, President Michael Smith, talks with Chuck Hurst about the Home School Foundation's Members Helping Members Fund.

Chuck, the Members Helping Members Fund is a creative program of the Home School Foundation. Can you tell our listeners about it?


Chuck Hurst:


Sure. None of us could expect the devastation of September 11th. No one could for see the fallout that followed. In the news we're seeing one company after another continuing to announce its woes and to lay off workers. Such has been the lot of many of our home schooling dads. The foundation began receiving these reports and we felt convinced that we had to do something to help them. What we decided to do was to offer to pay for a six month membership extension for these members who wanted to be part of HSLDA. HSLDA started it off by granting scholarships to these families. The foundation then invited other families to get involved to contribute to the needs. You know it's been a great encouragement for us to be able to offer such a practical gift to these families. In Hebrews it says, do not forget to good and to share with others for with these sacrifices God is pleased. You know we can say with confidence God is pleased with every family who's sacrificed to make possible this Members Helping Members Fund.
