Giving sacrificially comes naturally to home schoolersthe time and energy they invest in their children's lives is good evidence. But giving to others in need is a trait they also exhibit. Today on Home School Heartbeat, President Michael Smith talks about the Home School Foundation with Chuck Hurst. Michael Smith: Chuck, what is the overall mission of the Home School Foundation and how can people get involved? Chuck Hurst: Mike, the heart of parenting and home schooling is giving. We all know that. Each day home schooling parents are sacrificially giving time and energy, talent and much more. Reflecting the same heart the Home School Foundation is focused on giving. We're giving to needy home schoolers tangible encouragement so that they can keep on home schooling. We do this by serving as a conduit through which others can help meet the practical needs of those families that are less fortunate. One of the great things about the Foundation is that all the work that's done by the Foundation is done by HSLDA staff and as a result the Foundation has very little overhead. And contributions that go to designated funds go entirely to help these families. The Foundation isn't able to do everything for a family. We're not able to give them a full meal but through the generosity of others we are able to give them what Jesus called a cup of cold water. And sometimes this is all the encouragement they need to see the giving heart of God. Mike: Thanks, Chuck! Please join us tomorrow as we find out how the foundation is helping home schooling widows. The Home School Foundation is just one of the ways we help home schoolers. We'd like to send you several informative brochures absolutely free.
