Are evolutionists tolerant of opposing views? Patrick Henry College's recent accreditation denial provides evidence that they're not. Mike Farris examines academia's fear of creationism on today's Home School Heartbeat. Mike Farris: One question that needs to be asked is: Why are the evolutionists so afraid of this debate? We're more than willing to have our students study the theory of evolution. We want them to know what the other side is saying and how to defeat it. If they're so certain that they're correct, why are the evolutionists so afraid of students hearing both viewpoints? It's clear why they're afraid. So many of the liberal philosophies of our day are dependent upon the theory of evolution. If God created man uniquely, He has the right to set standards for our behavior. But if we're simply creatures of change plus time, then God has no right to tell us how we should live our lives. Abortion is particularly dependent on evolutionary thinking. To evolutionists, man is no different from a moral perspective than a white rat. Euthanasia, assisted suicide, and infanticide all drink deeply from the well of evolutionary thinking. Evolutionists are afraid of a generation of leaders who believe that mankind is the unique creation of an omnipotent God. The founders of the American republic believed that we are endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights. Patrick Henry College is raising up a generation of leaders just like them.
