The American Academy for Liberal Education has an accreditation litmus test for colleges. Do you know what it is? Join us on today's Home School Heartbeat as Mike Farris explains. Mike Farris: Patrick Henry Collegewidely known as the first college to attract a majority of home schoolerswas recently denied its accreditation by the American Academy for Liberal Education. It wasn't our facilities, our faculty, our library, our level of instruction, or our finances. There was only one issue. We teach that God created the world in six literal days. The AALE said that we could be accredited if we teach creationism in a religion class while teaching exclusively evolution in biology class. In other words, if we're to say that the Bible is in conflict with so-called scientific truth then we would be approved. That kind of double-mindedness is simply unacceptable. Moreover, the best of science shows that evolution is a theory that has more fatal flaws than plausible support. We don't see the point of having a Christian college that fails to stand up for the truth. J. Gresham Machen once said: "In trying to remove from Christianity everything that could possibly be objected to in the name of science, the apologist has really abandoned what he started out to defend. Here as in many other departments of life it appears that the things that are sometimes thought the hardest to defend are also the things that are most worth defending." We ask for your prayers and encouragement as we fight for the truth of God's creation. Should you home school your children? That and other questions are answered in a great resourceGetting Started. It's available to you absolutely free when you contact us here at the Home School Legal Defense Association. Check us out online at homeschoolheartbeat.com. That's homeschoolheartbeat.com |
