Mike Farris:
On my recent trip to Europe to promote home schooling, I went back for the third year in a row to the most beautiful city in Europe, Prague, to meet with my friend Michal Semin. Michal is the director of the Civic Institute there in Prague and is helping to organize the home schooling movement in that country together with is wife Michaela. Michal, welcome to the program.
Michal Semin:
Thank you, Michael, yes, thank you.
Mike Farris:
Tell us what the legal history of the home schooling movement has been in the Czech Republic.
Michal Semin:
It has been a big struggle because thanks to the communist regime we had in past there was no legal chance to home educate children. School attendance was obligatory. But now, ten years after the fall of the regime, weve finally secured the approval of the authorities and since last September there is a legal chance for families to home educate the children and the first 50 or 60 families took the opportunity.
Mike Farris:
Michal, Ive enjoyed very much working with you in Prague and hope to be back again very soon.
Michal Semin:
Thank you, Michael. We really appreciate all your support, all your prayers and all your help. Thank you.
