Have you ever tried to schedule your week only to be discouraged when things dont go as planned? Today, on Home School Heartbeat, Mike Farris, president of the Home School Legal Defense Association, interviews Teri Maxwell, co-author of a book with tips on scheduling called Managers of Their Homes.
Mike:
Teri, in your book, you start with probably the most important question of all about scheduling, Why Schedule? Whats the answer to that?
Teri:
No, we found out that it is practical even for small families. Mike, Id like to share again with you an e-mail from a mom who has read our book and she only has one child. This is what she says:
Even with just one child, I often felt hurried, yet unproductive. I never
felt I was making the best use of my time but I didnt know what to do about it. My schedule shows me at a glance where to focus my energy. I think
order and organization are important for all children, not just the ones with
many siblings.
Mike:
Teri, what happens when your schedule gets interrupted?
Teri:
Well, I have another e-mail from one of our readers that I think answers this very clearly.
Even on days when we experienced blessed interruptions, I could keep calm
and then quietly resume the next day, not worrying that we were going to be
far behind, but knowing that because I had been on the steady path, it wouldnt
take much to catch up.
Once again, the book is Managers of Their Homes by Steven and Teri Maxwell. Wed like you to have the latest news and resources on home schooling issues. Its available bimonthly in The Home School Court Report. You can receive a free sample copy by calling area code (540) 338-5600.
