Managers of Their Homes, co-author Teri MaxwellWhy Schedule? Volume 12, Program 27 5/11/1999
If you struggle with keeping your day organized, you are not alone. Today on Home School Heartbeat, Mike Farris interviews Teri Maxwell. Teri has co-authored a book called Managers of Their Homes.
Mike:
Teri, in your book, you start with probably the most important question of all about scheduling, Why Schedule? Whats the answer to that?
Teri:
Scripturally, First Corinthians 14:40 says, Everything should be done in a fitting and orderly way. And, in order to answer your question, Id like to share what one of the moms whos read our book has written.
Benefits I gained from scheduling: Lots of schoolwork done, a sense of
order in the house, even when mommy is busy. Everyone gets attention
at some pointnot just the high maintenance children. Dinner [is] on time.
Mom is no longer the drill sergeant because everyone knows what theyre
supposed to be doing. Discourages idleness, and helps me keep my priorities
in line.
Mike:
Thats a powerful testimony, Teri. For a mom or a family that struggles with organization, can you share any tips to get started with that will let them begin to get a handle on a schedule?
Teri:
I believe that the key to successful scheduling is getting up at a set time in the morning. And for a home schooling mom, it would be best if she could do this before her children get up so she can have a quiet time with the Lord to start her day.
Mike:
Teri, Im sure that a lot of moms and dads too will be wanting to get a copy of your book after listening to our visit together this week. Well welcome you back again tomorrow.
