How do your donations to the Home School Foundation’s Military Fund help families in the armed services be able to homeschool despite challenging situations? Today on Home School Heartbeat, host Mike Smith shares some stories we recently received from grant applicants. Mike Smith: One military mom writes, “My husband is active duty army and we are wanting to continue homeschooling our children; but, financially we are truly struggling. Next school year we will have 6 school-age children. This has been our first year homeschooling, so we do not yet have “hand-me-down” books. I do not like to ask for help but if I cannot find some resources, I will be unable to continue to teach my children. One of my sons is learning disabled and has come so far this year at home. I really cannot see going back to public school, especially for him.” Another mom writes, “I am inquiring about applying for homeschool assistance for our medically homebound daughter. She has a rare genetic disorder that is named after her. She has global delays that require immense resources. My husband is also on Active-Duty, and I have late-stage Lyme disease. There are many challenges, but we are sweetly blessed with the necessities of life. However, there are some gaps that need to be filled in our curriculum and tools for our homeschool pursuits. Thank you for this program. Our goal is to successfully educate our dear daughter at home.” Listeners, find out how you can help families like these when you donate to the Home School Foundation’s Military Fund. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith. |
