A recent study shows two out of three young people from conservative churches will leave the church as adults. Today on Home School Heartbeat with host Mike Smith, guest Ken Ham discusses how parents can better communicate the truth about the Bible to stop this exodus before it starts. Mike Smith: Ken Ham: Well, 1, 000 people in their 20s gave us some shocking answers. Though they regularly attended Bible believing churches growing up, those who attended Sunday school regularly as children, and they are more likely to accept gay marriage and abortion and more likely not to believe all the accounts in the Bible are true. So, those who went to Sunday school are more prone to accept these wrong views? See there is something desperately wrong with Sunday school programs. And we found that most churches and homes are not teaching apologetics. They’re not teaching children to be able to answer the skeptical questions of the age. Parents need to stress with their children that God’s word is true from the very first verse, that it is relevant in their lives and how they conduct themselves, and equip them to know how to defend the Christian faith. Mike: Thanks so much, Ken! I know this will be really helpful to our listeners. Next time, we’ll wrap up this week with a field trip idea for the ages! So until then, I’m Mike Smith. |
