Mike Smith:
Steve, can you wrap up this week by telling our listeners a little more about engineering as a profession? Why would engineering be a good profession for a homeschool graduate to consider? And what training will he or she need?

Steve Wells:
You know, Mike, it’s no secret that most engineers make a decent wage, and they’re able to provide well for their families. But just having a good paying job is not going to be fulfilling in the long run. The most fulfilled engineers are the ones that can say they can use their developed skills to help others in need.

Mike, I think the best way or best thing that parents can do to train their students is to first know their student’s learning style. That is, do they learn by hearing, by seeing, or by doing?

Second, guide them in the proper academics to that particular learning style to establish the foundation they need.

Third, is to find apprenticeship opportunities for them through a friend or contact at church or a local company, let’s say, that hires engineers. This way, the parents can guide their students as they go through learning about the principles of engineering, as well as monitor what happens in their learning periods of time.
