Mike Smith:
Janice Campbell joins us once again to talk about homeschooling when you’re also providing in-home caregiving. Janice, last time you advised us to be realistic and flexible about our home and our homeschool. Can you offer some encouragement for those difficult days when it seems like a lot of work to just survive the day?

Janice Campbell:
Just remember that there are seasons of life for each of us. There are different priorities in any season of life. The common denominator is that each priority is related to people and not things. During the parenting/homeschooling season, raising and teaching children, building a strong family, becomes a top priority.

When you add caregiving into the mix, it slots into the priority list right below self and children. Everything else is negotiable, because there will be other seasons when caregiving and family responsibilities are over and you can focus elsewhere.

The important thing to realize is there is no way to keep up with the beautiful plans and orderly schedules you’ve mapped out. You will build relationships, maintain priorities, and learning will happen.
