We want to be a free people and we want to give our children a society in which they can enjoy the blessings of liberty. How can we do this? Find out on today’s Home School Heartbeat as host Mike Farris points out a significant phrase in the U.S. Constitution. Constitutional Literacy with Michael Farris![]() If we’re going to be a free people, we’ve got to remain true to the Constitution. Mike Farris teaches the constitutional history and legal theory that are essential to American self-government in a DVD series, Constitutional Literacy with Michael Farris. Help preserve liberty and get Constitutionally literate. Follow the link to learn more or order. Mike Farris: The United States Constitution is the binding set of rules which should control the government created by the Founders. Let’s take a brief look at the preamble of the Constitution. A key phrase is found in the promise: “To secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.” When the government moves away from adhering to the Constitution, there are serious repercussions—and not just for ourselves, but for the generations to follow. For instance, in my new DVD series entitled Constitutional Literacy, I explore the constitutionality of our current national debt. A 2010 report by the Congressional Research Service, states that, “The current consensus among economists is that the burden of the national debt is largely shifted forward to future generations.” Instead of securing the blessings of liberty to our posterity, we are, instead, enslaving them. When government acts and works and rules outside of the Constitution, we are no longer a nation under the rule of law. Instead, we become a nation ruled by the whims of men. That is exactly the opposite of what the Founders intended, and we are no longer securing freedom for ourselves—or our posterity. I’m Mike Farris. |
