We’ve all heard the jokes about how the Sunday School answer to any question is “Jesus!” But does the Bible provide answers for the grown-up demands of overwhelming schedules and family concerns? Hear from mom Zan Tyler, today on Home School Heartbeat with host Mike Smith.

Mike Smith:
Zan, on our last program, we talked about spending time with the Lord. Can the word of God actually help a mom deal with those overwhelming demands?

Zan Tyler:
Mike, there’s a great verse in Hebrews 4:12 (Amplified Version) that says, “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power, making it active, operative, energizing, and effective.”

One of my other favorite verses of Scripture is found in Isaiah 37. And this story is when Hezekiah, the king of Judah in Jerusalem, is being threatened by Sennacherib, the most powerful king at the time. Their whole civilization is threatened. And Hezekiah prays, and then Isaiah says this to him: “This is what the Lord, the God of Israel says: Because you have prayed to me concerning Sennacherib king of Assyria, this is the word the Lord has spoken against him.”

And so, what we need to realize is that our prayer and our seeking the Lord really helps us in the true demands of life. And so, as we are homeschooling today, as we are seeking the Lord today, we can pray to Him, and expect real answers to our real problems, just like Hezekiah did centuries ago.

Mike:
Zan, practical wisdom of the Scriptures! Thank you for bringing that to us today. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.

God’s Word gives instruction, direction, clarity, and discernment. I’m really struggling with homeschooling, curriculum, and family issues. Does the Bible get that specific? Zan reminds us that God’s Word provides hope, encouragement, motivation, and comfort, and shows us how to draw these things out of Scripture.
