Mike Smith:
Dr. Russell Moore joins us again today. You’ve given some great suggestions and insights this week for families who may consider adopting. Now, what about the rest of us? If adoption is an issue that concerns all Christians, what can those who aren’t called to adopt do to create a culture that encourages and supports adoption?

Dr. Russell Moore:
Well, the first thing is to recognize that we’ve all been adopted in Christ, which means that we’re part of a real family that’s been created by the Gospel.

Second, that means encouraging those families who are adopting; pray for them, be around maybe to watch their other children, if they have them, or be there to grieve with families who’ve been through an adoption that’s fallen through. Minister to birth mothers, and to unwed mothers who are in crisis situations, and then help!

Help love and minister to those children who’ve been adopted within your church or within your community. And that’s how God turns it around! It’s when an orphan isn’t a category anymore; it’s not an abstract thing. That orphan is little Chloe, or little Connor that you see in the pew in front of you or at the picnic out there with the other families. That’s how God starts to create a culture of adoption, when we actually see it happening.

Mike:
Dr. Moore, thanks for joining us this week! I hope many of our listeners are prompted to think about how they can be part of the work of extending the love of God to the orphans of this world. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
