What’s the most rewarding aspect of homeschooling—the academic benefits? The freedom to individualize learning? Today on Home School Heartbeat, one high school homeschooler joins host Mike Farris to illuminate another aspect of excellence!
Mike Farris:
This week, we’re talking with Lydia Ware. She’s a homeschooled girl, 16 years old, from Washington state. We’re talking to her about the ways that her life has been impacted by her experience with home education. Lydia, what about your relationships with other people? Has homeschooling been beneficial on that front?
Lydia Ware:
I think it certainly has. Being homeschooled has given me the chance to be close to my family, because I have the time to bond with them. And being homeschooled has really helped me to be closer to my parents, and that has helped me be closer to God. And I believe that God will work through the people you are close to. And all that stuff about homeschoolers being forced about beliefs from their parents is a bunch of baloney—you can’t force anyone to believe anything if they don’t want to. I think it has to happen in your heart, and it will happen, with God’s help.
Mike:
When we think of relationships for kids, we often think about relationships with other kids, but the number one relationship need in our country is relationships with family. Lydia, thanks for talking about yours! I’m Mike Farris.
