Does your vision for homeschooling ever get lost in its day-to-day challenges? On this edition of Home School Heartbeat, join host Mike Smith as Denise Mira shares her secrets for overcoming difficulty. Mike Smith: Denise Mira: Mike, I would echo the words of one of my heroes, Winston Churchill, and say, “Never, never, never, never give up!” Number one, the fact is, no matter how you feel today, homeschooling works. Number two, don’t compare yourself to others. That’s a killer. And number three, make it an absolute priority to allow your kids to pursue their interests as a part of your curriculum. The rains will fall, the winds will blow—expect them. But we as home educators must endure, persevere, and commit to the end! Character, both in us and in our children, will be built by us enduring difficulties and challenges in all their forms—whether educationally, financially, maritally, relationally, emotionally—we’re going to have a fight. But we continually remind ourselves of this highest of callings—to develop the raw material in our greatest treasure—our children. Mike: |
