“Hands that give, also receive.” It’s not just a nice saying. Today on Home School Heartbeat with Mike and Elizabeth Smith, get a taste of the blessings of giving to others.

Mike:
Elizabeth, this week we’ve heard about how donations to the Foundation are blessing grant recipients. But you also hear great feedback from the people who make this work possible! Can you share some of the stories or comments you’ve received from donors to the Home School Foundation?

Elizabeth Smith:
Well, our donors are wonderful and they’re generous. I think of one woman who wrote us a letter recently, and she said,

“I’ve been homeschooling for seven years. I never knew how it would change my life. And I decided to go to a curriculum fair and to try and to gather the things that I needed for my homeschooling program. Well, total strangers helped me. People paid and gave me free curriculum. And, now I want to make a donation to the Foundation, based on the fact that people were so giving to me.”

Another area is, people who understand the protection that Home School Legal Defense Association provides, and they give to our Members Helping Members fund, so that people can have free memberships, if they can’t afford to buy them. And so often I will be talking to people who say, “It’s a privilege to give. I just want to help others so they can homeschool.”

Mike:
Elizabeth, thank you so much. It’s always encouraging to hear about the work of the Home School Foundation. The Foundation has made a huge difference in the lives of many homeschool parents and children around the world. Until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
