Your generosity can change lives! We all know that, but sometimes it helps to hear from someone directly impacted by your giving. Today on Home School Heartbeat host Mike Smith talks with a Home School Foundation grant recipient who received funds for his family’s homeschool… just in time.
Mike Smith:
Today Buster Nicholson, a homeschooling dad from West Virginia joins us. Buster, welcome to the program!
Buster Nicholson:
Thank you.
Mike:
Buster, can you tell our listeners how a grant from the Curriculum Relief Fund made a huge difference for your family's specific homeschooling needs?
Buster:
Well, I can say my family is very appreciative. I was working at a job … I was making about 1/3 less than I was at a previous job, and we were wondering how we were going to purchase curriculum. We submitted the grant; HSLDA was very gracious, helping us meet our needs at the time.
Mike:
How did you use the money?
Buster:
Well, as you know, children are diverse in their learning needs, and we were able to, I guess you could say, meet each one of those by tailoring the curriculum for each child’s learning style.
Mike:
Would you have been able to do that without the grant?
Buster:
No, no, absolutely not. I mean, that takes resources and that was something that I didn’t have a whole lot of at the time. I couldn’t have done without that for sure.
Mike:
Well, Buster, we’re privileged to be able to help you, and thanks so much for inspiring our listeners with your story. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
