How can you help fellow homeschooling families who are struggling financially? Find out about a practical way to bless other homeschoolers, on today’s Home School Heartbeat with Mike and Elizabeth Smith.
Mike Smith:
Today I’m joined again by my wife Elizabeth to discuss how the Home School Foundation’s Curriculum Relief Fund is making a difference for homeschooled students. Elizabeth, can you tell us more about this fund and why there’s a need for donations specifically at this time?
Elizabeth Smith:
Well, I think that there’s been a huge impact with the recent recession, and we didn’t realize it until we got so many requests for help to buy curriculum. We had families, unemployed families, we had people who had their hours at work cut back, and homeschooling or continuing to homeschool was going to represent a real sacrifice for them. The difference it makes to these families, to receive help in buying quality curriculum for their children, is what gives them motivation to keep going.
Mike:
Elizabeth, what can people do right now to help folks who need curriculum help?
Elizabeth:
Well, I can tell you that families are waiting for this help. And you can go online, you can make a donation. If you go to the website, Homeschoolfoundation.org, you can go to the donation page, and please specify curriculum relief. Then it will go directly to the families that are waiting for this help.
Mike:
Elizabeth, it’s always exciting to see what happens when supporters of homeschooling step up to help families in need. And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
