Have you taught your children how to make a wise appeal? That’s a skill that will never be useless—as long as they’re under some sort of authority. Today on Home School Heartbeat, homeschooling mom Mariah Perrigan joins host Mike Farris with more. Mike Farris: Mariah Perrigan: Magazine articles and conversations with daddy help guide the process. The forms we receive back are a mixed blessing. Some come back with marks. Others offer a world view quite different from our family’s. There’s one or two that just seem to minister to a particular child. Each one is a treasure. We work through this entire process expecting God to protect and guide us as we navigate through very unfamiliar territory. You would think working as closely as we do, that our children’s letters would be carbon copies of one another, or perfectly expound our views on the current issue, but that’s often not the case! By respecting my child’s initiative in writing and allowing her to present the ideas she has developed without a lot of editing on my part, I am working towards my ultimate goal of raising her to be an independent adult who understands the times in the light of God’s word and is ready to communicate that truth when the need arises, because she knows it is the right thing to do.
