Do you want your children to grow closer and connect on a deeper level? Host Mike Smith and his guest reveal what happens when siblings blend their personalities and talents to work together as teammates on today’s Home School Heartbeat.

Mike Smith:
This week, we’re joined by the Mally siblings who co-authored the book Making Brothers and Sisters Best Friends. My guest today is Grace Mally. Welcome, Grace!

Grace Mally:
Thanks! It’s great to be here.

Mike:
There are many, many benefits of strong sibling relationships. Grace, what have been some advantages of thinking of your brother and sister as your teammates?

Grace:
Well, one time, my brother and sister and I memorized Hebrews 11 with actions to quote together, and sometimes I got really tired of practicing. But my big sister had a vision for it and was persistent, and in the end we were able to quote it for many different audiences. And we realized that, when people see brothers and sisters working together it makes an impact on them, because often all they see is siblings fighting.

Brothers and sisters have different personalities and giftings, and sometimes these can cause irritation. So we need to realize that God gave us our siblings to be our teammates, to balance and sharpen us. There are so many needs in this world, and you can always do more in a team than alone. Also, when you work together in the Lord with your brothers and sisters, it creates a new and special bond with them.

Mike:
Well, thank you, Grace. That’s very encouraging! And until next time, I’m Mike Smith.
