Learn more about how your student can be equipped to stand for what is right, grow in his or her beliefs, and make a difference in your community through involvement with a Generation Joshua Student Action Team this year!

Can a homeschooled teen change the outcome of a congressional race? Hear Representative Michele Bachmann share how Generation Joshua students impacted her campaign, as she joins Mike Farris on today’s Home School Heartbeat.

Mike Farris:
My guest is Representative Michele Bachmann from Minnesota, who is a strong friend and advocate for homeschoolers. Representative Bachmann, welcome to the program.

Rep. Michele Bachmann:
Mike, thank you so much! Pleasure to speak with you!

Mike:
Michele, there were 72 homeschoolers on a GenJ Student Action Team that volunteered for your campaign last time. What kind of impact did they have on voter turnout?

Rep. Bachmann:
They had everything to do with it, Mike. Generation Joshua volunteers are a pure joy to have on my campaign. And every year I’m absolutely amazed at their level of dedication. They work so hard for these important elections, and we frankly trust them to represent my campaign because they’re so friendly, they’re so polite; they’re well-spoken.

Whether they’re picking up the phone making the all-important calls or whether they’re out going door to door, they do an incredible amount of work in a really short amount of time, and really, the most important asset we have on our campaign is time. The one thing you can’t buy, find, or create is time. And thanks to Generation Joshua volunteers, they help us become confident that we’ll reach more people and meet our voter contact goals before the polls close on election day. And that directly impacts whether or not we can declare victory on November 2nd.

Mike:
Michelle, it is a privilege to have you on the program, and thanks so much for standing up for freedom in Washington. I’m Mike Farris.

Rep. Bachmann:
Thank you, Mike!
